Blessings 365: Day 199: A nice clean yard

There's just something about a nice clean yard that makes you want to hang out.  Sit.  Talk.  Laugh.  It's just so....clean.

On this blessing day we had our yard weed eated (is that even a word?).  Yep, the whole yard.

Here in Gulu, there are no lawn mowers.  Not even sure there are any in Uganda.  Most of the time guys with huge knives (called slashers) come out and slash your grass (thus, the appropriate name for their knives!)  It is HARD work and it takes a LONG time.

Some guys have invested in weed eaters.  They will come out and for around $12 (25,000 shillings) they will weed eat the yard in less than half the time.  It's still a lot of work....but less work than the slasher!

So, of course, all toys and rags and kitchen utensils (if you have kids you KNOW you have spoons in your yard, too!) have to be picked up.

The end result:

A yard that is clean for at least 30 minutes!!
