Having people drop by your house unexpectedly.
I always took this for granted.
Then we moved to Kampala, Uganda for a year.
In Kampala we didn't have many friends (besides the Gordons...our fantastic friends from New Zealand!). And Kampala is so spread out it's almost impossible to "drop by." So for the year we had almost NO unexpected visitors.
Now we are in Gulu. Gulu is much smaller than Kampala. And we have more friends. So it's fun when people stop by unexpectedly!
On Sunday, the Foresters stopped by on their way home. They were only going to stay for 10 minutes. Five hours, and a thrown-together-dinner later, they were finally heading home. What fun!
So feel free to drop by any time! We would love it!! However, you might not find the house perfect...and we might have to run to the store for supper fixings....but you're welcome any time!!
