Blessings 365: Day 36: A swing set

All our children love to swing...but for Nate it’s almost therapeutic.  When we lived at GrandKate’s and Granddaddy’s, Nate would run outside first thing every morning and swing.  He would swing for hours.

Once we moved to OKC and then to Kampala, there were no swings.  It was very hard!  In OKC we would regularly go to the playground nearby.  And in Kampala we had almost-weekly visits to our friends, the Gordons.  So Nate could get SOME swing time.  But it’s not the same as being able to walk out in your own backyard and swing to your heart’s content.
Scott and Benji have been working hard.  For the past two weeks, when there's been power, they have been building a swing set.  In a country where there is no Home Depot, most of the nails bend after one strike of the hammer, and 2x4s are non-existent....building a swing set is a challenge!!

But it’s been totally worth all the work to see the kiddos having SO much fun swinging.  Now the children are having to deal with blisters that will eventually turn into calluses!  But...oh well...they LOVE to swing!

And, yep, Nate heads out first thing and starts swinging!  What a blessing!
