We've been without water for 3 weeks. We buy filtered water to drink and save our empty bottles and refill them with tap water....for times such as these (for washing dishes, bathing, flushing toilets, etc). But after about a week our supply begins to run low. We are so thankful that it's rainy season right now. There's a high chance of rain every day so we've been able to refill our water bottles for free....with rain!!
Scott called the water company last week and asked when the water will be fixed. They told us that they would not fix the pipe until the city is finished with the road work they are doing (widening the road outside our house). We asked our friend how long that will be and he said probably 2 months....maybe longer because of the rains! 2 months! Oh dear!! What an adventure!!
Last week Melissa and I decided we wanted to focus on Capturing Gratitude!! Mandie posts her Capture Gratitude list every week and invites others to join in. Even though I have been writing down 1000 Gifts....somehow taking pictures (noticing what I'm thankful for and grabbing the camera to capture it) keeps thoughts of thankfulness constantly in the front of my mind.
Because of our water adventures, I decided that my first week of Capture Gratitude {1-8} would be all about water (or lack of it)!!
1. Dark clouds gathering in the sky. Rain is coming!
2. Rain, glorious rain!!
3. Kids splashing and playing in the rain!
4. Fresh clean rain coming out of the drain spouts (*after* it's rained for about 5 minutes. The first water to come out is full of red Ugandan dirt!)
5. Strong men to pour the rain water into our empty water bottles! Scott's even gone out at 3 in the morning to fill 16 water bottles in the pouring rain!
6. A wonderful hubby who washes our hair on the front porch!
7. Knowing that behind the clouds the sun is still shining!
8. Water bottles full of clean filtered water for drinking. We're especially grateful for that because 1.1 billion people in the world (one-sixth of the population) don't have access to clean drinking water.

Oh, Kelly! You've come a long way, Baby!
