Pictures of our home...and more

This is our house! It's actually a duplex. We'll post pictures of the family that lives next door soon!

This is our courtyard. The kids LOVE to play out here. Yes, that's a thick cement wall and, yes, that's razor wire around the top.

The kids' room. They started out in separate rooms, but they'd gotten so used to being in the same room in OKC that they wanted to keep it that way. So we put them all in the master bedroom. They love it and so do we! Aren't the triple bunk beds cool? They don't all have mosquito nets yet....but Scott bought a treated mosquito net curtain that hangs in their window. We plan to get the other nets this week!

This is our room! Sorry it's blurry....but you get the picture! Not a lot of furniture. And it's nice and cozy! But it's perfect for us!

This is the view looking left out of our driveway.

This is how we walk towards the market near our house. The pathway is up on a hill (away from taxis and boda bodas that drive on the road to the left). On the right you can see a little bit of the wall surrounding our house.

This is a house near us. We pass it every day as we walk to the market or to school. See all the laundry hanging outside? More about laundry in another post!

This is a common sight everywhere we walk. Trash lines the streets.

This is a big field/empty lot near the market. During the day you might see cows or goats grazing out there....or people walking....or boda bodas driving. But in the afternoon it's full of boys playing soccer (futbol). Makes me think of Josh everytime we pass them!

Here's our first view of the marketplace. On the left is a family-run fruits and veggie stand. On the right is a beauty salon and a place that sells meat.

This is the "supermarket" close to our house. We stop here to get yogurt in a bag, bread, milk, cokes, star shaped donuts (they're different than in America....not too sweet, more cake-like), and pineapple mirindas (makes me think of Katelyn!) .

This is our local Home Depot.

I can't believe we forgot to take pictures of our internet cafe! For a quarter (500 shillings) we get 20 minutes of computer time. We'll get pictures of that (and more) posted soon!!
