Istanbul to Entebbe

The final leg of our journey!! Praise the Lord...we're almost to Uganda. To me, this was the longest flight of all. In trying to look for the "glad" in everything....I thought this flight was 8 hours...so when I realized it was only 6.5 hours it made me GLAD!!

Why was it so long? Well, first of all there were no individual TV screens (don't I sound spoiled?!?). There were screens about every 3rd row of seats...but they were showing "Wall Street." :) So what did we do since we didn't watch TV? We played with toys from backpacks, colored, played ds, ate the yummy airplane food (salmon!!!), and some of the kids slept.

We arrived at 2:10 am local time (I'm not even sureIt was AMAZING the difference between flying into Istanbul and flying into Entebbe. Flying into Entebbe there were no lights on the ground. You could hardly even see lights on the runway where we landed. As we landed we got out on the tarmac...walking down stairs they pushed up to the plane. The night was cool and beautiful!! There was a big sign that said "Welcome to Uganda, the Pearl of Africa." It was very surreal....we were actually in Uganda!!

We went inside to apply for our visas. First we had to fill out forms for everyone. Then we got to wait in line...for a long time. :) Scott got to the front of the line and learned that the officials didn't need all of us present....so the rest of us went to see how many pieces of our luggage actually made it.

We had marked all our luggage with neon green duct tape so we could recognize it easily and guess what? ALL 17 pieces made it from Little Rock to Entebbe!

We got all our luggage and carry-ons loaded onto 5 carts and went out to meet our driver. He was driving a van that had to hold all 8 of us, all 17 pieces of luggage plus all carry-ons. In Uganda it's ok to have kids sitting on your laps....so we all piled in, with luggage behind us and shoved under our seats....with Annie and Garrett sitting on laps, and headed to Kampala.

more tomorrow....including pictures. We have our pictures on Melissa's computer (because she has the program we use to re-size them) and I have blogs typed up on our mac. So tomorrow I'll get on Melissa's computer and upload some pictures!
